Firewall: a hardware or software
device which is configured to permit, deny, or proxy data through a computer network
which has different levels of trust.
AntiVirus / AntiSpam: computer
programs that attempt to identify, thwart and eliminate computer viruses, SPAM,
and other malicious software (malware).
IDS / IPS: IDS, intrusion detection
system, detects unwanted manipulations to an environment or network systems. IPS,
intrusion prevention system, is a computer security device that monitors network
and/or system activities for malicious or unwanted behavior and can react, in real-time,
to block or prevent those activities.
UPS: also known as an uninterruptible
power source or a battery backup is a device which maintains a continuous supply
of electric power to connected equipment by supplying power from a separate source
when utility power is not available.
BioMetrics: hardware or
software systems that use physical human data to identify users and secure access
to an environment.
